Dear Church Family,

Christians behaving badly is nothing new.  Jesus speaks to this issue when he says, ““Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.”  Literally the original text says, “A large donkey stone” because he is referring to large stones turned by donkeys to grind the meal.  So, Jesus says it would be better to be thrown into the sea with this huge stone around your neck and drown than to cause one of these little ones to sin.  This passage lays a heavy responsibility on each one of us to set a godly example, not just for children, but for everyone around us.  This is why our behavior is so important.  Unfortunately, many are failing in this area.  My daughters have both been working as waitresses while in college.  They both say that their least favorite time to work is after church on Sunday.  They say as a general rule the Christians are more obnoxious and by far the worst tippers.  Now, isn’t this sad?  These girls both grew up in church and they already know that Christians aren’t perfect, but what about their co-workers and others that witness this behavior?  My prayer today is that we will not just behave well when we are together, but even more importantly, that we will behave well when we are out in the marketplaces of life, because people are watching our lives to find evidence of our Savior.

P.S.  These are exciting times at Del Cerro Baptist Church.  The work on the sanctuary is rapidly being completed.  The project is on track to be finished by Sunday, January 25th.  I especially hope you will make plans to be with us on the 25th as we celebrate the completion of the Sanctuary Renovation.  This would also be a wonderful opportunity to invite a family member or friend to come and see all that the Lord is doing at our church.  This Sunday, we need to make a few adjustments due to the construction project.  We have determined that it would be best not to have worship in the Sanctuary this Sunday due to the ongoing project, therefore, we will be meeting for worship in the Fellowship Hall this weekend.  This will be an exciting one week change and will help the anticipation build even more for the completion of the project on the 25th.  The worship services the Sunday (18th) will be held at the same time.  We will also be asking the Sunday School Class that meets in the Fellowship Hall to move to the Choir Room for this one Sunday.     I hope you are as excited as I am about all that the Lord is doing at our church.  I look forward to seeing you in church this Sunday.

P.S.S.  Following the 2nd Worship Service Sunday we will have our Quarterly Business Meeting in the Fellowship Hall.  We hope to be finished by 12:30 so that we can begin with the carpet and pew removal from the Sanctuary.  If you would like to help with this work, we could use some able-bodied men and women to stay and help.  We also need some help with cleaning the choir chairs and helping prepare them to reupholstered this week.  Many hands make for light work, so please consider staying to lend a hand.
